About the Awesome Foundation
The Awesome Foundation is an ever-growing, worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe. Each chapter of the Awesome Foundation is made up of several “trustees” who each contribute funds to create a micro-grant of $1,000 to support a local awesome project. The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest.
The Foundation provides these grants with no strings attached and claims no ownership over the projects it supports. It is, in the words of one of our trustees, a micro-genius grant for flashes of micro-brilliance.
Since its humble beginnings, many Awesome Foundation chapters have sprung up globally to conserve, sustain, and support the worldwide ecosystem of awesomeness. Projects have included efforts in a wide range of areas including technology, arts, social good, and beyond.
The Madison Chapter
The Madison chapter of the Awesome Foundation is a group of Madisonians who want to further the level of Awesomeness in our communities. We meet bi-monthly and distribute six awesome grants annually. Our grants have no strings attached.
We’re always looking for more trustees. Email email@example.com to join the Awesome Madison team!

When you tell people about an idea that you have, is their response “that would be awesome!”? THAT’S what we want to see!
Meet the Crew
R.K. is a lover of craft beer, dry humor, politiking, and red pandas. An urban homesteader who loves gardening and knows how to make butter, yogurt, beer and cheese, but remains skeptical of her husband’s chickens and prepper-esque storage of water in the basement. A Badger to the core! Will travel for beer- and pretty much any other excuse she can come up with. RK thinks few things are more awesome than sharing some beers with friends on a sunny afternoon at the terrace.
M.S. is a banker who wants to spread some joy and wealth to the Madison community. She loves Wisconsin and would love to help fund awesome projects.
JS moved from one awesome place (Seattle) to another awesome place (Madison) 10 years ago. She loves Madison and all of the cool things going down here. JS is co-owner of an ad agency and believes we can do good work, for good people, and have fun doing it. When she’s not working she’s hanging out with her two boys hiking, biking and enjoying vintage campers–an awesome obsession.
M.H. is a native Madisonian who loves craft beer, sarcasm and surprise road trips, hordes books, speaks Spanish (sort of), can’t stop visiting Little Free Libraries and wants to support all things awesome. She has spent the past several years working for a start-up non-profit and now appreciates how difficult it can be to get funding for a great idea. She is also one of the creators of Awesome Madison.
Multimedia DeanB.S. owns her own multimedia design company and enjoys giving back. She resides in a small town, with her husband & their furry kids (pets).
B.H. is a born-and-bred Yooper who (mostly) managed to avoid picking up the accent. A fan of the outdoors and of staying active, he has managed to participate in seemingly every sport during his 8 years living in Madison. He may be known to sling a line of code or two at home or at the office. Always professional, yet fun, eh.
An undefeated (intramural) wrestler more than 45 years ago, a person who professes (but is not a professor) and has taught at K-12, undergraduate, graduate, continuing and discontinuous education levels for, oh, decades; nexus connector, fan of gardeners, apple pie and ideators who make things happen, he favors activities that are both fun and valuable to all concerned.
MS is a Software Developer and Manager. As much as he loves technology he is passionate about family, friends, games, sports, travel, food, and music. He has spent the majority of his life in good old Madison, WI. He has been looking to do something with his time that embodies a civic minded spirit and feels extremely fortunate to be part of the Awesome Foundation. He currently spends his free time on projects at rockswift.com.
